Scrap Tire Recovery and Recycling Life-Cycle Assessment Report for Manitoba (2022 Year Over Year) – To promote best practices for the management of end-of-life tires in Manitoba, a life cycle assessment of tire recycling in Manitoba was conducted for the study period of 2018 to 2022 by California based Scope 3 Consulting, LLC. These results are a continuation of an LCA study conducted in 2021.
A previous provincial report prepared for TSM included province-specific results through 2020. The present report extends the study timeline through 2022 with updated data provided by TSM. For further details and documentation of the study background and methodology, please consult the study report. For prior year provincial results, please consult the provincial report below.
Scrap Tire Recovery and Recycling Life-Cycle Assessment Report for Manitoba (2021) – To promote best practices for the management of end-of-life tires in Manitoba, a life cycle assessment of tire recycling in Manitoba was conducted by California based Scope 3 Consulting, LLC for the study period of 2017 to 2020 to present the best estimates of environmental performance for end-of-life tire management in the province. The report compares impacts from program activity against impacts of competing products that may be avoided or displaced by using tire-derived materials. The net comparison between these two amounts represents an estimate for the potential benefits of end-of-life tire management. The study found that Manitoba’s short overall transport distances and clean electricity grid produce relatively small impacts and a net environmental benefit for tire recycling in the province.
TSM End-of-Life Passenger/Light Truck Weight Study (2022) - TSM study confirms the Tire Industry Association (TIA) standard weight of 25 lbs (11.5 kgs) for end-of-life (ELT) passenger and light truck tires (PLT) applies to Manitoba. 3500 PLT tires were weighed and recorded this summer by TSM Summer Research Associate, Kelvin Igwe to confirm the average weight of PLT tires in Manitoba.
